Perhaps the best thing about homemade ornaments is that they are unique expressions of the person who made them, given with love to someone special. No two are alike.
Think about a paper snowflake. If cut by hand, there is not another like it in the world because no two hands will cut the exact same way and even the same hands will not cut the same way each time.
When God gave His only begotten Son that first Christmas—and when that Son gave Himself at Calvary—it was the greatest and most unique expression of love the world had ever known or will ever know.
As you trim your tree and decorate your mantle this year, perhaps with homemade ornaments, reflect on this unique gift and realize, too, that you are a one-of-a-kind creation with a one-of-a-kind testimony to share with those who do not yet know the Savior.
Get a blank sheet of paper and create your own “snowflake” by writing down the story of how you came to know Jesus and how He has changed your life. Then make a plan to share that story this season with someone who needs to experience the true meaning of Christmas.
“But now, O LORD, You are our Father; we are the clay, and You our potter; and all we are the work of Your hand” (Isaiah 64:8).
