Some of us have great Christmas memories from childhood; others not so much. But you don’t have to rely on ancient history if you catalog your memories each year.
This is a potential new tradition suggested by someone whose family members keep a “memory jar” throughout the year. Whenever the family shares a particularly good day or someone in the family is blessed by something specific, a note goes into the memory jar.
At Christmas, the jar comes out, the notes are read, and everyone has the joy of remembering the good times and praising God for blessings.
This tradition can be kept at Christmas, on Thanksgiving, or on any day of the year your family wants to designate to celebrate the good times.
“And in that day you will say: ‘Praise the Lord, call upon His name; declare His deeds among the peoples, make mention that His name is exalted. Sing to the Lord, for He has done excellent things; this is known in all the earth’” (Isaiah 12:4-5).
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning” (James 1:17).
“Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever” (1 Chronicles 16:34).
"Now therefore, our God, we thank You and praise Your glorious name" (1 Chronicles 29:13).
