In His Word, God reminds us often that He is with us during the struggles and hardships we face. Psalm 34:18 says, “The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart and saves such as have a contrite (crushed) spirit.” Whether you are a leader (see Psalm 21:7), a nation (see Psalm 46:5), or an individual (see Psalm 62:2), God will be your needed mercy, your help, and your defense at just the right time. In the hard times, God has even told us that we can experience joy (see James 1:2). The joy is not determined by our circumstances but by the relationship we have with Jesus. In Jesus, we also have peace and are able to be of good cheer because, though we all face tribulation in this world, He has overcome this world (see John 16:33). God has promised to never leave us or forsake us. He will be with us and give us rest. We never have to fear. He, the Creator of all things, is with us (see Hebrews 13:5, Exodus 33:14, Isaiah 41:10). The truth of God’s Word should be your greatest treasure. When you become a Christian, God calls you His child (see John 1:12). He claims you as His because He bought you back from the enemy and redeemed you with His own blood. Isaiah 43:1 says, “But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel: ‘Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine.’” These are just a few of the many encouraging verses God has given to us so that we KNOW we can trust Him when times are difficult. Thank You, LORD!
