What does “God’s grace is sufficient” mean?

Let’s first look at our sin problem. Since sin entered the world, everyone has been born a sinner. David wrote “...and in sin my mother conceived me” (Psalm 51:5b). And in Romans 3:23 Paul writes, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” For every single person ever born, sin is the one problem we all face with no way of making it right on our own. Hence, the grace of God was demonstrated by and through Jesus Christ. Speaking of Jesus, John the Baptizer said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” The writer of Hebrews stated that Jesus “put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.” Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 15, “...that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,” in Romans 10:13 that “whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved”, and in Ephesians 2:8 that it is “by grace we have been saved.” Only the grace of God is sufficient to overcome our sin problem! Second, we are told that if we are weak, we can call on the Lord and His grace will be our needed strength. “...My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9). In any situation where we feel weak, all we must do is cry out to God and He will give us His strength to persevere. Third, when it comes to our daily walk in Christ Jesus, it is His grace that helps us in every need and in every desire to minister to others. Hebrews 4:16 says, “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” And 2 Corinthians 3:6 tells us that God “made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant.” We may be limited, but in all things, God’s grace is sufficient!
