Jesus’ coming the first time and His Second Coming are like night and day. For instance, in His first coming Jesus came in to submit. He submitted to the Father’s will and pointed all glory to the Father. He submitted His own glory to the confines of human flesh. However, when Jesus returns, He will not come to submit under authority but to rule in authority in the fullness of His glory; to be the One True King! Few saw and bowed before Him the first time, but all will see and bow before Him the next time: “For it is written: ‘As I live, says the LORD, Every knee shall bow to Me, and every tongue shall confess to God’” (Romans 14:11).
The first time, Jesus came as a servant. “For the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve” (Mark 10:45a). The next time, He will come to give righteous decree—to declare that sin, Satan, and death are forever abolished in Hell. He will separate those who have been made righteous by His shed blood from those who have not been made righteous and face eternal judgment. His decree will be final, and no one will be able to argue with His holiness (Matthew 25:31-46).
When Jesus came the first time, He came to be the final sacrifice for all sin. “But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God.” (Hebrews 10:12). Oh, but in His Second Coming, Jesus will not become a sacrifice, He will be crowned as King and rule victoriously for all eternity! Every prophecy from the Old Testament and the New Testament will have been perfectly fulfilled and those who are His will reign with Him forever! “If we endure, we shall also reign with Him” (2 Timothy 2:12a). The biggest question pertaining to this event is, are you ready for His Second Coming? “For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13).
