Pray for them. And equip them to serve in the Lord’s army. Psalm 127:3-5 says, “Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of thy youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.”
Your role as a parent is to sharpen and aim your “arrows” your children at the enemy. You are to equip them to be ambassadors for the King representing Him in all power and authority. Pray daily for them. Ask God to make them useful in His hands.
I know that this will test your faith because it tested ours even as we sent our first child to his first day of school! Part of sharpening an arrow is entrusting it into the hands of the Mighty Archer. But let me assure you, the safest place your children can be is in the center of God’s will.
God loves your children more than you could ever love them. You can trust Him. He will not lead your children where His grace and power will not keep them. God may call them to the mission field. God may call them to the ball field. But, wherever He calls, He will be with them.
Encourage them at a young age to get out of their comfort zone and be a part of the Great Commission. This way, when they are young and sharing Christ with their playmates, they’ll be able to share Christ when they grow up.
Train your children to do whatever God calls them to do. And pray that God will take care of them in the center of His will. Wherever they go, you can send them forth in confidence out of the bow or prayer in your hands into the power of Almighty God.
