Your Bible Is A Living Treasure, part 2

When you read the Bible, you find phrases like “the Word of the Lord,” “the Word of God,” or “the Lord said” used 3,808 times. If the Bible is not the Word of God, it’s the biggest bundle of lies ever unleashed on planet Earth. The Bible is truth, absolutely. 

Let’s look at other virtues of the Bible which set it apart, for if you don’t appreciate the virtues of the Word of God, you won’t have any desire to understand it.

In this study of the Word of God, you will see some of the qualities of the Bible that can be said of no other book.  If you do not love, know, understand, practice, and obey the Word of God, you cannot be a victorious Christian.

The Urgency Of The Hour

Many of us think eternity is “way out yonder.” But eternity is only a heartbeat or trumpet call away. Jesus is coming “in the twinkling of an eye.” Suddenly, cataclysmically, just like that—He comes. 
Whatever we do, we must do with urgency—with all our heart and might. Our nation, indeed our world, is in crisis. We’re living in the last days. In the last 70 years, we’ve seen Israel restored as a nation after centuries of doubters scoffing that it was impossible. We’ve seen the development of the computer and microchip. Before long, bankers and politicians will want to abolish money and dictate that everyone must have a number to buy or sell. We live in days never seen before. 

Faithful Prayer For Your Family

It’s an incredible thing to pray from the Bible, because you know your prayer is in the will of God if it comes out of the Word of God. Every morning Joyce and I have prayed for our children and grandchildren by name. Every day. I encourage you to pray morning and evening, over and over again. Pray not that they’ll be rich or famous but they’ll know and love God with all their heart.

All Dressed Up & Nowhere To Go

So now that we’re dressed in the armor, what do we do?  The pieces of armor we wear are defensive weapons. What about offense?

Some have bargained, “Satan, if you’ll just leave me alone, I’ll leave you alone.”  But you can’t be neutral. You’re going to face a battle—if not tonight, then tomorrow or next week.  The battle we’re in, we’re in to win.

Armed and Ready!

Last time in the article “The Battle is On!” we looked at the all-out war declared upon the family, the nation, and your heart. We saw that the family is the only part of the Garden of Eden we have left; therefore Satan wars against it.

Would you be surprised to learn that the world’s most successful pornographer isn’t Hugh Hefner or Larry Flynt? The chief pornographer is Satan. Actually, he’s behind the whole industry.

All-out war has been declared on the family, the home, the nation, and your heart. There’s a cosmic battle taking place.

Marks Of Maturity

May I ask you a question? Are you a growing Christian? Are you moving toward maturity? You can be young only once, but you can be immature for a long time. Many churches have people who’ve been born again but cease to grow.

I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father. I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known Him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one. (1 John 2:13-14)

The Lure Of False Teachers

But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you… (2 Peter 2:1)

In the early church there was joy and sound doctrine, but false prophets—spiritual con artists—soon arose, like those we have today. In his second letter Peter calls them “sick dogs and dirty hogs” (2:22), hucksters of the Gospel. 

A Portrait Of Christ

“Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.” (Matthew 5:17-18)

We now have available, instantaneously, the wisdom of the ages. Or do we? We have the ability to read or hear or view the opinion or beliefs of anyone who thinks they are an intellect.
