Monday Morning Religion

Somebody said, “They’re praising God on Sunday, but they’ll be all right on Monday. It’s just a little habit they’ve acquired.” That’s what the world says when they watch us on Monday. Wouldn’t it be great if we could prove them wrong and make Monday just as holy as Sunday? How do we do that? Well, let’s start by looking at what God’s Word about the dominion, drudgery, dignity and duty of work.

Unwrapping Your Spiritual Gift

An elderly nurse, a member of Charles Spurgeon’s congregation, was living in the poor house, and the great Spurgeon went to visit her. He saw a framed certificate on her wall that she had received when a wealthy man she had cared for died. She didn’t know what it was. Spurgeon read it and learned the man left her his vast estate. Yet she was living destitute, not knowing the value of what she’d been left.

When Jesus Christ ascended to Heaven, He left you an incredible gift—your spiritual gift. Maybe you’ve not discovered yet what you have in Jesus. Could it be you have it framed on the wall, not using it? Or have left your gift under the tree, unopened and unappreciated?

God's Grace In The Workplace

So many people wake up in the morning, take a shower, scald their throat with a cup of coffee because they're running a little late, fight traffic, and get to work. Then, they come home, take a couple of aspirin, watch the evening news, perhaps discuss a few things with a roommate or spouse, maybe putter around the house or yard a little bit, then go to bed.

Now, I'm not saying people who have that lifestyle don't love and serve God, perhaps they do. But most of them probably think the only time they serve God is when they get off work! They end up giving their prime time to the employer and their leftovers to God!

Righteousness Exalts a Nation

Liberty comes when God’s people say enough is enough. It is righteousness that exalts; sin that is a reproach. And it is revival which is the restoration of a nation.

Live Overflowing

"In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto Me, and drink. He that believeth on Me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water" (John 7:37-38).

Do you consider your life stagnant or would you consider it overflowing? Perhaps it’s time to stop enduring religion and start enjoying a relationship. You’ll find then you will not just merely become a reservoir, but become a river. How does Jesus address this issue and what does He say about how to accomplish this?

God & Government

The Only Hope For America

America’s only hope is found in this verse. Our nation had a godly founding and a glorious past, but if the Lord tarries, what kind of nation will our children inherit? Evidently Americans believe the economy is the top issue. But I’d rather leave my children the legacy of a godly nation than great wealth squandered in a godless society. Righteousness is our greatest need. Alexander Hamilton said, “People get the government they deserve.” Something has happened in America. If we want to know what’s wrong, we need to look in the mirror.

Facing Your Fear

During the Great Depression, President Roosevelt famously said, “We have nothing to fear but fear itself.” Those were riveting words, however, I don’t agree. There are many things in our world to fear! Today, people fear losing their health, their wealth, their savings, their job…they even fear losing their family or friends.

God’s Word has plenty to say about conquering fear, facing fear with faith, and living a future free from the bondage of fear.

Don't Go To Heaven Alone

In Acts 8, we read about how Philip led an Ethiopian eunuch to the Lord. There are three commitments reflected in Philip’s life that I want to challenge you to make this week.

Write them down and say, “By the grace of God, I am going to do these three things this week.” Then, I would like for you to write and tell me what God has done through you.

Is God Finished With Me?

Someone reading this article—it may be you—has failed the Lord, and you think perhaps God is finished with you.

In Joshua 8:1 we read that, coming off the incredible victory over Jericho, God’s people Israel met a stunning defeat against the small city of Ai, because there was sin in the camp. The sin was discovered and dealt with, but Joshua was dejected—even though he had not been personally responsible.

What's It All About?

Whatever our occupation, every Christian has a second full-time job—we are called to be evangelists. Our Savior said, “Lift up your eyes and look upon the fields, they are white already unto harvest” (John 4:35).

Part of God’s plan for you is to get your eyes off self and onto others. No matter how faithfully you attend church, generously give, eloquently teach, or circumspectly walk, if you’re not endeavoring to bring people to Jesus Christ, you’re not right with God. God didn’t save you to be a member of Christians Anonymous. He commands us to go make disciples. It’s not a request; it’s a command.
