Holy Spirit

Our Greatest Prayer Partner

"Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us..." (Romans 8:26).

Are you satisfied with your prayer life? Most of us would answer no. Prayer is our greatest Christian privilege but, sadly, our greatest failure. We fail more in our prayer life than in any other place.

Things That Count

Do you consider yourself religious? Paul remembered the time when he was religious but he was lost. When God saved him, he discovered that in spite of his religion and legalism, he was bankrupt, blind and bound for hell. Not only did this truth change his life but he wanted it to change every person’s life who counts religion as righteousness. Philippians 3:1-9 teaches us what we need to do to get our priorities straight.

Others

There is a story that is told of Salvation Army founder William Booth. In his later years and in frail health, he was invited to say a word of encouragement to a convocation. Unable to attend, he sent a telegram with a simple yet powerful message. It had one word on it: “Others.”

A Thankful Heart Is A Joy-Filled Heart

One of the most important reasons having joy is important is because it can help us win the lost to Jesus. You can’t go around with a Bible under one arm and a tombstone under the other saying, “Don’t you want to be like I am?” Our best advertisement is the joy of the Lord.

Let The Fire Fall

Surely, there has never been a more critical time for a Christ-honoring, soul-saving fire from heaven revival! In the book of 1 Kings, we learn of a time similar to what we are experiencing today and it gives us application for how we can approach our need for the revival fire of God.

The people of that day had forgotten God and were worshipping an idol named Baal. Elijah called the people to Mount Carmel and built an altar and put a sacrifice upon it. He then told the people that they would pray and the god that answers by fire will be the one true God. Now, let's see what application we can make from this story for our lives today.

In God, We Trust

Terrorism is no longer just another news story that America hears from a far away place on the nightly news. As of September 11, 2001, terrorism is now a national reality on American soil.

The World Trade Center towers that represented American financial ingenuity and power disintegrated before our eyes. The Pentagon, the very symbol of American strength, was pierced by another highjacked airplane. And over the skies of Pennsylvania, people risked their lives to overtake terrorists bound to destroy another American landmark. They succeeded in preventing even greater destruction, but they lost their lives in heroic acts of courage. On our watch, almost 6,000 lives were lost in a single day to terrorism.

National Repentance

Often I wonder, will oceans of tears and rivers of blood be the price this nation pays for flaunting its rebellion in the eyes of a righteous, holy God?

Our only hope is in repentance. “If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14).

Train Up A Child In The Way He Should Go

Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Notice that the Lord doesn’t tell us to teach a child, but instead, we are to train a child. That means we are to mold into shape by discipline and practice. How do we do that?

How To Prepare Kids For Marriage

From the very beginning, we learn that God created men and God created women (see Genesis 1:27). He made them different that He might make them one. Why is this important? Because any society that blurs the distinction between male and female is headed for disaster. And if you study history, it bears that out as well.

The Bible says that after each creative act, God said it was good. But when we read about His last act of creating man, it was “very good” (see Genesis 1:31). Read a little bit further and you learn something that wasn’t good man was alone: “And the LORD God said…I will make him an help meet for him” (Genesis 2:18).
