Let The Fire Fall

Surely, there has never been a more critical time for a Christ-honoring, soul-saving fire from heaven revival! In the book of 1 Kings, we learn of a time similar to what we are experiencing today and it gives us application for how we can approach our need for the revival fire of God.

The people of that day had forgotten God and were worshipping an idol named Baal. Elijah called the people to Mount Carmel and built an altar and put a sacrifice upon it. He then told the people that they would pray and the god that answers by fire will be the one true God. Now, let's see what application we can make from this story for our lives today.

In God, We Trust

Terrorism is no longer just another news story that America hears from a far away place on the nightly news. As of September 11, 2001, terrorism is now a national reality on American soil.

The World Trade Center towers that represented American financial ingenuity and power disintegrated before our eyes. The Pentagon, the very symbol of American strength, was pierced by another highjacked airplane. And over the skies of Pennsylvania, people risked their lives to overtake terrorists bound to destroy another American landmark. They succeeded in preventing even greater destruction, but they lost their lives in heroic acts of courage. On our watch, almost 6,000 lives were lost in a single day to terrorism.

National Repentance

Often I wonder, will oceans of tears and rivers of blood be the price this nation pays for flaunting its rebellion in the eyes of a righteous, holy God?

Our only hope is in repentance. “If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14). 

Train Up A Child In The Way He Should Go

Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Notice that the Lord doesn’t tell us to teach a child, but instead, we are to train a child. That means we are to mold into shape by discipline and practice. How do we do that?

How To Get Up When You're Down

Adrian Rogers once observed that as a pastor he had learned there is a heartache in every pew, and—as the old Spanish proverb says—“There is no home without its hush.”

At a revival in Florida God just really poured out a blessing at that meeting. It was late on a Saturday night, and I was returning through the South Florida swamps on a road back in "the boondocks.”

I was driving an old Volkswagen that had an auxiliary tank you would use just in case you ran out of gasoline in the first tank. It didn't even have a gas gauge. That night, I had forgotten that I was already on the second tank.

How To Measure A Man

How do you measure a minister? By his oratorical ability? Leadership skills? Size of his church? The budget? His brains, brawn, bucks? These are the things the world uses.
