Scripture Passage: 1 Corinthians 15
Science states it is impossible to raise the dead to life. It is a scientific fact that what is dead cannot be alive again.
Fortunately, Easter morning was not too affected by science. Jesus rose from the grave. He beat death, removed its sting, and reversed the finality of the grave. According to His promise—”He that lives and believes in Me shall never die.”—there is a part of us that will never die either.
Adrian Rogers said, “If God can make the Heavens and the earth out of nothing, certainly He can raise a human body out of something.”
The something that He will raise—our resurrected bodies—will be liberated from the soulish principles and be given spiritual principles. We will no longer be weighed down by the pities of a soul ripped apart from its Creator. Our bodies that were once fallen, marred, scarred and debilitated will be made new, perfect, and unique.
Adrian Rogers explains it this way, “One of these days, all of the limitations of this earth will fall away, and there will be no more weakness, no more sighing, no more crying, no more dying, no more trying. We will have that perfection God wants us to have. The old body goes down to the grave. Resurrection morning it wakes up, and there it is, just like the Lord Jesus Christ and yet the individual you.”
Although our bodies were created humbly on the earth, we will become creatures of glory and made to look like Jesus while still being the most “ourselves” we have ever been. And that is exactly who we were always meant to be.
So, we say with confidence as Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15:55, “Oh, death, where is thy sting? Oh grave, where is thy victory?”
Thinking about what happens after our earthly deaths can be difficult, even with our promise of new life beyond the grave. Though we may not know the exact logistics behind the resurrection of our bodies, we can trust that we will be made like Jesus which is the ultimate goal of every follower of Christ.
Today, dive into Scripture and cling to its wisdom and instruction. Whether it be your witness, your finances, or your friendships, use what you have today to be more like Jesus.
