What is the impact of the inerrancy of the Word of God upon preaching?

The Bible alone is the preacher's primary source for proclaiming the Gospel, for it alone is a supernatural book. Someone has well said that the Word is shallow enough to where a little child can come and get a drink without the fear of drowning, and yet it is deep enough that the theologians can swim in it forever and never touch bottom.

What is the hope of Heaven?

To understand the hope of Heaven, we first need to understand the word hope. There are two different words for hope that we see in New Testament Scripture. The Greek words elpizo and elpis. 1) Elpizo is used when expressing a wish or desire for something such as in 1 Timothy 3:14 when Paul says, “I hope to come to you shortly.” 2) The Greek word for hope, elpis, is a word that means confident expectation, or as Pastor Adrian Rogers would say, “blessed assurance” or “divine certainty.” This is the word used when referring to the things of Christ or the things of Heaven. For the Christian, seeing Jesus one day face to face and being with God the Father in Heaven is a divine certainty. How do we know? Jesus is the hope, our elpis, of Heaven and He told us so in His perfect Word. Keep reading and see the validity of our hope of Heaven.

What is the Holy Trinity?

The Trinity is God. As mere men we cannot fully understand or explain God. Yet, in His infinite wisdom, God gave us glimpses of who He is in His Word that He might reveal to us His nature and His essence. God clearly reveals Himself to us as a triune being: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—three distinct personalities operating in unity as one true God. Let’s see what His Word says about that.

What is the Great Commission?

Whenever someone is going away and personally pulls you aside to say something, it’s usually pretty important and worth listening to. The Great Commission is just that. It is of the utmost importance and is not only worth listening to but is also worth our obedience. The Great Commission...

What is the fruit of the Holy Spirit?

There are two facets to the fruit of the Holy Spirit. One is listed by Paul in his letter to the Galatian church, Galatians 5:22-23. In it, he lists nine separate items. However, there is only one Holy Spirit and there is only one fruit. What we see in his list are...

What is the first commandment?

The first commandment, “You shall have no other gods before Me,” points us to the uniqueness of the One True God. Anything or anyone else you put in front of the One True God is insufficient to save and meet your deepest needs.

What is the fire of God?

Scripture reveals several aspects to the fire of God, especially when it comes to His interaction with man. The fire of God is revealed as being a part of His very nature. For example, in Deuteronomy 4:24 and in Hebrews 12:29, God is called a consuming fire. This is because of His holiness and His desire for us to worship Him as the only true God. He wants us to do so with reverence and godly fear. Early on we see...

What is the final judgement in the Bible?

The final judgement will be a time when those without Christ will be judged and sent into Hell, and the ones who have been saved will be ushered into eternal life.

What is the difference between pastoral and evangelistic preaching?

Most preachers are harming their churches by overemphasizing evangelistic preaching. Pastoral preaching is not the delivery of an evangelistic sermon, but, rather, it is preaching designed to meet the needs of the congregation through a proper feeding of God's Word.

What is the difference between oneness and unity?

Oneness is uniqueness in a complementary relationship that only comes through Jesus, but unity is an absence of diversity that could be found in many groups. In marriage, we see two completely different people come together as one.

What is the difference between belief and trust?

Many believe that God exists, but they do not have a personal relationship with Him. The difference between belief and trust is in the action involved in trusting. You can believe something one day and then change your mind the next. But to put your trust in something—to have faith in something—is to commit to aligning your actions with your belief.

What is the definition of fellowship in the Bible?

Fellowship in Scripture is much deeper than just having a meal with someone, or even with a group of people. The word for fellowship in the Bible is defined as: (Greek-koinonia) to commune, to communicate, distribution, contribution, partnership. However, biblical fellowship adds to that spiritual intimacy and a oneness of purpose focused on Jesus. The best fellowship we can have is the fellowship we can have with Jesus. 1 Corinthians 1:9 says, “God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.”

What is the body of Christ?

A human body has many members with different functions, but only one head. Metaphorically speaking, the Church and Christ work together in a similar fashion. In the same way that the head directs the rest of the body, Christ also instructs His body, the Church. Ephesians 5:23 says, “For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body.”

What is the body of Christ?

A human body has many members with different functions, but only one head. Metaphorically speaking, the Church and Christ work together in a similar fashion. In the same way that the head directs the rest of the body in how to move, Christ also instructs His body, the Church. Ephesians 5:23 says, “For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body.”

What is the blessed hope of the believer?

The word blessed in the Bible means happy, joyful. The word hope means confidence or assurance. The blessed hope of the believer is Jesus Himself! He is our hope for now, and He is our hope for the future. He is our joy-filled confidence.

What is the biblical meaning of worship?

The Bible promotes worship from Genesis to Revelation. Worship is a gift from the Lord as well as a command. There are many forms of worship; some include being in a church and some do not. It’s been said that worship is anything we do that makes God smile. True worship in Scripture was specifically taught by Jesus in His conversation with the woman at the well. In John 4:24, Jesus says, “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

What is the biblical definition of salvation?

Salvation means being saved by God from the wrath of God.

What is the biblical definition of faith?

There is no specific definition of faith given in the Scriptures. But the Book of Hebrews describes faith: “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1).

What is the best way to start studying the Bible?

What is the best way to start studying the Bible? There are a multitude of ways you can study the Bible and one of those ways will be suited to you. The secret is to just start. The very first thing you do when you sit down with your Bible is not to open it randomly and point, but to pray. After you pray, then open to a specific book. A good place to begin is in the Gospel of John which was written to show us the love Jesus has for us, our need for a Savior, and how to mimic Jesus’ life after we become Christians. Those are general instructions. Let’s be more specific and answer two questions: What do I pray? How far do I read?

What is the best book of the Bible to read if I am depressed?

The book of Psalms encourages us to worship God during seasons of anxiety and depression, giving us hope, peace, and comfort in knowing Him.
